The weekend the Baltimore Book Festival will take place on Saturday September 19 – Sunday September 20 in the Waverly neighborhood (on 30th, 31st, and 32nd streets to the west of Greenmount Avenue). The festival was founded in 1996, inspired in part by Mayor Schmoke’s “The City That Reads” initiative. It is 100% free and features conversations and readings with hundreds of authors, and three blocks full of literary vendors, with something for people of all ages, including a dedicated children and teen stage. Each year is filled with incredible authors, local businesses, community partners, and thousands of visitors…and this year will be no different. The event starts at 10am on both days. Saturday events ends at 8pm and Sunday at 5pm. It also includes a DJs, artists, conversations, hula hooping, double dutching, and so much more. Don’t forget to stop by the Waverly Main Street office at 3100 Greenmount Avenue #C (next to Jinji’s Chocolate) and say hello to our new Executive Director, Ms. Tiffany Duncan. She will have a prize wheel for all donors and anyone who sign up to be volunteers. Bring out your entire family and invite your friends as this is an event that you will not want to miss.
